Here's a fun factoid - did you know that 70-80 per cent of the immune system is located in your gut?
'How so?!', we hear you cry. Well, think of it this way: the food we consume and the nutrients it contains have to make it through the gut wall in order to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Which makes our gut an epic part of the body’s immune system.
Our gut is made of of trillions of good - and some bad - bacteria. Their job is to help harvest and digest nutrients, so they're a pretty important bunch of little fellas. And during the winter months, some of those nutrients like Vitamins C, A, and D, zinc and iron, are critical to help support your immune system.
In simple terms, the more good bacteria you have, the healthier your gut, and the better the chance to absorb vital nutrients to defend your immune system. #winwin
