Kefir has been all the rage lately with growing awareness of its vast health benefits, particularly in relation to the gut. With recipes as delicious as our Strawberry Kefir Smoothie, it won't be hard to get around!
Nexba's Kefir Strawberry and Peach blend is one of the newest additions to our range of drinks and already one of our favourites to include in recipes.
This Strawberry Kefir Smoothie recipe contains just 4 key ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to prepare. It’s ideal for those who prefer a lighter breakfast or for a refreshing and nutritious morning or afternoon snack.
Kefir is a cultured, fermented drink that has a similar taste and texture to that of yoghurt. Similar to kombucha, kefir is made using a ‘starter’ that combines yeast, protein and bacteria.
Traditionally, kefir is made with dairy milk however it can also be made with plant-based milk alternatives such as oat, rice and/or coconut or even water!
Kefir is loaded with nutrients and live probiotics, making it a very popular dietary addition for those looking to improve their gut health.
And the live probiotics help to support the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, which can help to prevent imbalances.
Not only is kefir fantastic as a preventative for digestive issues and other gut-related conditions but it is also fantastic for relieving symptoms when they are already present.
As if that wasn't enough, there have also been studies that suggest kefir has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Is there anything Kefir can’t do?!
Nexba's 100% natural Kefir is made using water and is brewed over 7 days. It is naturally sugar free, vegan-friendly and contains nothing artificial.
You can enjoy Nexba Strawberry & Peach Kefir straight from the bottle or add it to smoothies. Being healthy has never tasted better!
To enhance the nutritional value of this summer smoothie we’ve added a few teaspoons of freeze-dried acai powder.
Acai is a fantastic source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Acai is also low GI and a good source of soluble fibre (assisting with digestion and colon health).
This is an optional yet highly recommended addition, not only for its health benefits but also for the amazing injection of flavour.
Feel free to sub out the freeze-dried acai powder and use frozen acai instead.
