Probiotic Guacamole is the new smashed avo

Let's be honest, smashed avo is SO 2018. When we found out that World Guacamole Day was coming up on 16th September, we knew that any ordinary avo recipe just wouldn't do. We had a long hard think and decided to attempt the impossible: make smashed avo extra.

The results? Punchy Probiotic Guacamole!

This Punchy Probiotic Guacamole is loaded with healthy ingredients providing good fats, essential vitamins and antioxidants. Let’s unpack it!

  • Nexba Elderflower and Lemon Kombucha: Kombucha is a delicious, fizzy beverage that tastes like a soft drink, but is actually loaded with probiotics which helps to keep our gut health in check. It’s important to note however, that not all probiotics are born equal. Nexba Kombucha contains a unique strain of live probiotics (500 million of them, to be exact) which are specifically crafted to survive the journey from mouth to gut.
  • Avocado: The humble avo is a classic addition to any brekky, lunch or dinner and for good reason. This versatile fruit (yep, it’s a fruit!) is not only delicious but is also an incredible source of a wide range of nutrients. They're loaded with healthy fats, fiber and are a good source of Vitamin C, B6, K and E.
  • Olive oil: Like avocado, olive oil is an fabulous source of healthy fats. Don't let the name fool you, healthy fats are essential to our overall functioning. In fact, moderate intake of olive oil has been linked to healthy weight management! Olive oil is also high in antioxidants which have been shown to reduce risk of illness.
  • Tomato: Sweet, versatile and oh-so-juicy, tomatoes are a great source of antioxidants, particularly, Lycopene. Lycopene has been linked to reduced risk of certain chronic illness. Yes please!

Punchy Probiotic Guacamole Recipe

Prep time 5-10min | Cook time 0 | Serves 8-10


  • 3 large ripe avocados

  • 3-4 tbsp Nexba Elderflower and Lemon Kombucha

  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped

  • 1 small red chilli, chopped (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, roughly chopped


  1. Place avocados in a medium sized bowl, use a fork to mash.
  2. Add Nexba Elderflower and Lemon Kombucha, olive oil, tomato, chilli and salt. Mix until well combined.
  3. Gently mix through coriander leaves.
  4. Transfer to a bowl and top with additional coriander and a light drizzle of olive oil. Add salt
    and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve with corn chips.
