8 Low Carb Gin & Tonic Recipes (pssst the secrets in the tonic!)

The silly season is just around the corner which means, so too is the season for G&Ts! There’s nothing quite like enjoying a refreshing gin and tonic on a balmy summer night to get you into the holiday spirit.

You may be aware that the average tonic water has over 7.5 teaspoons of sugar and over 100 calories, so how have we created 8 low carb gin & tonic recipes? Why by using our new no sugar and nothing artificial tonic waters of course! 

That's right our new Naturally Sugar Free Tonic Waters contain ZERO sugar or artificial sweeteners and no preservatives.

Meaning you can enjoy your classic gin and tonic guilt free... well almost, we suppose there is still gin in it! 

Here we have 8 delicious, fruity and sugar-free G&Ts to kick start the fun and festivities.

1. Rosemary-Grapefruit Gin & Tonic Recipe

A delicious, fruity cocktail (or mocktail) using our NEW classic tonic water!

If you prefer a slightly sweeter beverage, add in some freshly squeezed orange juice to balance out the bitterness of the grapefruit.

Garnish with a rosemary sprig and some fresh grapefruit, serve with ice and voila! Simple and satisfying.

Ingredients
Servings 4.

  • 2 1/2 cups classic Nexba tonic water
  • 4 shots gin (optional)
  • 2 cups fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Rosemary sprigs and additional grapefruit (to garnish)

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients (except rosemary and grapefruit to garnish) in a large jar and mix.
2. Pour into glasses and garnish with rosemary sprigs and fresh grapefruit.
3. Serve and enjoy!

2. Coconutty Gin and Tonic Recipe

Coconutty Gin & Tonic Recipe

 

Move over frosé! This frozen coconutty G&T is the ultimate refresher to enjoy over the silly season.

All you need is frozen coconut flesh, some coconut water, our classic tonic and a few ice cubes. Blend it all together and voila! Garnish with basil (or mint), a lime wedge and/or some flaked coconut. If you’re wanting to go all out with the tropical island theme (like us) serve this drink in a coconut shell. These can be found at select fruit shops.

Ingredients
Servings 2

  • 400 grams frozen coconut flesh
  • 2 shots gin 1/4 cup coconut water 
  • 1 cup Nexba classic tonic water 
  • 1 handful ice cubes

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients in a high-power blender, blend until smooth.
2. Pour into glasses (or coconut shells) and garnish with basil and lime.
3. Serve and enjoy!

3. Pine-lime G&T Recipe 

Pineapple G&T Recipe Low Carb

 

Pineapple is the perfect addition to our NEW lime, cucumber and mint tonic water. It adds natural sweetness and great flavour (not to mention a huge range of nutrients!) If you’re feeling extra fancy, serve this one in a pineapple cup, simply by scooping out the pineapple flesh and adding in your beverage.

Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime wedges and you have yourself a gram-worthy cocktail.

Ingredients
Servings 2.

  • 1 cup pineapple juice (or Nexba pineapple sparkling infusion) 
  • 1 cup Nexba lime, cucumber and mint tonic water 
  • 2 shots gin (Optional)
  • 1 tbsp lime juice 
  • 1 handful ice cubes Garnish with lime and mint

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients (except garnish) in a large jar and mix.
2. Pour into mason jars and garnish with lime and mint.
3. Serve and enjoy!

4. Blueberry Cocktail G&T Recipe

Superfood cocktails… Not only does using Nexba tonic water mean you can enjoy G&Ts without any added sugar, but this one even contains superfood ingredients!
Blueberries are absolutely packed with antioxidants (classifying them as a superfood) but if you’re feeling adventurous, try adding in a teaspoon of butterfly pea powder. What is butterfly pea powder you may ask…. Butterfly pea powder is made by grinding organic butterfly pea flowers.
It’s health benefits are similar to that of green tea... antioxidants, increased immunity, supporting heart health and boosting metabolism. Aside from the health benefits, mixing butterfly pea powder with lemon juice creates a beautiful blue/purple (we’ve included a photo with and without butterfly pea so you can see how the colour changes). It’s the perfect natural alternative to food colouring!
Ingredients
Servings 3
  • 2 1/2 cups Nexba classic tonic water (or lime cucumber and mint tonic water)
  • 3 shots gin (optional)
  • 3/4 cup frozen blueberries (+ extra to garnish)
  • 1 tsp butterfly pea powder, optional
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 handful ice cubes A few mint leaves, to garnish
Instructions
1. Firstly mix butterfly pea powder (if using) and lemon juice in a small bowl.
2. Transfer to a large jar and add all remaining ingredients (except garnish).
3. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint leaves and additional blueberries.
4. Serve and enjoy!
5. Spicy Mango G&T Cocktail 
Spicy Mango Low Carb Diet Cocktail Recipe
Mango and chilli is a hard combination to beat. Of course, if you’re not a chilli person, you can simply omit this ingredient.
To create the chilli salt rim, you simply need to coat the glass rim with coconut oil and dip in Himalayan salt and chilli flakes or powder. It’s such a simple addition but it really helps to create that authentic cocktail experience in the comfort of your own home!
Ingredients
Servings 2.
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 1/2 cups classic tonic water
  • 2 shots gin
  • 1 dash hot sauce (optional)
  • Chilli salt rim
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
Instructions
1. Firstly, coat the glass rim with coconut oil and dip in pink salt and chilli flakes/ powder to create the chilli salt rim.
2. Then combine all cocktail ingredients in a high-power blender, blend until smooth.
3. Pour into glasses. Serve and enjoy!
6.  Cranberry and Hibiscus G&T Recipe 
Cranberry Cocktail Nexba No Sugar

 

This cocktail was inspired by our NEW cranberry and hibiscus tonic water. This adds a lot of flavour in itself so we have simply added some freshly squeezed lemon, as well as some cranberry juice (we would highly recommend checking the packaging to ensure you are buying fresh cranberry juice i.e. not from concentrate). Alternatively, you can make it fresh at home!

This is a great one to make for entertaining guests. It’s so simple and so tasty, ideal for balmy nights!

Ingredients
Servings 6.

  • 2 cups cranberry juice
  • 4 cups cranberry and hibiscus tonic water
  • 6 shots gin (optional)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 large handful ice cubes 
  • Mint leaves, to garnish 
  • Cranberries or raspberries (fresh or frozen), to garnish

Instructions
1. Combine all ingredients (except garnish) in a large jar and mix.
2. Pour into a large jar (or individual glasses) and garnish with cranberries (or raspberries) and fresh mint leaves.
3. Serve and enjoy!

7.  Orange and Raspberry G & T Cocktail Recipe

Fruity, refreshing and naturally sweet. There is something so nice about knowing that what you are consuming contains no sugar and nothing artificial (unlike most drinks), yet without compromising on taste. If anything, it tastes better!

This recipe also works well with any of our tonic water range, however our pick would be the classic so that you get a more intense raspberry flavour.

Ingredients
Servings 3.

  • 1 punnet fresh raspberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 3 shots gin
  • 1 1/2 cups Nexba classic tonic water
  • 1 handful ice cubes
  • Lime and additional fresh raspberries, to garnish

Instructions

1. Place raspberries and orange juice in a glass (or cocktail shaker) and muddle using a wooden spoon.
2. Add gin and mix well.
3. Place ice cubes in glasses (we’ve used margarita style glasses) and pour the cocktails over it.
4. Then add tonic water, garnish with fresh raspberries and lime.
5. Serve and enjoy!

8. Strawberry & Basil G&T Cocktail

Strawberries and summer... a match made in heaven. This delicious cocktail can be prepared in less than 10 minutes and is definitely cocktail-bar standard if you ask us.

We’ve added coconut water for a hint of sweetness (as well as for that great flavour and added hydration), but you can also substitute with additional tonic water.

This recipes is delicious with all 3 of our tonic waters so you can decide if you’re in the mood for classic, cranberry & hibiscus or lime, cucumber and mint.

Ingredients
Servings 2.

  • 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced in half
  • 1 handful basil leaves, to garnish
  • 2 shots gin
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 cup Nexba classic tonic water
  • 1 handful ice cubes

Instructions

1. Place strawberries and basil in a glass (or cocktail shaker) and muddle using a wooden spoon.
2. Add gin, coconut water and lime juice.
3. Place ice cubes in jars and pour the cocktails over it. Then add tonic water, garnish with fresh strawberries and basil.
4. Serve and enjoy!
