Aussie Families Losing the Sugar War

by The Aussie Boys August 03, 2016

Nine in ten Aussie parents say they want to reduce the amount of sugar their children consume every day but only 30% have actually done so over the last year.

Recently, we worked with Pureprofile to commission the inaugural Soft Drink Sugar Survey and it revealed some shocking statistics around sugar consumption in Australia.

It found that while 89% of parents said it was either important or very important that they reduce the amount of sugar their kids consume, more than half of families still pick up sugary soft drinks during their typical trip to the grocery store.

Furthermore, only around 30% of families have actually reduced the amount of sugar they gave their kids over the last year, with 10% saying their kids are consuming more sugar than before. More than a quarter of parents did not know how much sugar was safe for their children to consume.

We want to empower Aussie families to take the lead in the war on sugar. That’s why we have launched Nexba Cola, Australia’s first naturally sugar free cola.

Nexba Cola is naturally sugar free, which means it contains zero sugar without the use of artificial ingredients, flavours and sweeteners found in traditional soft drinks.

Instead, it uses Erythritol, a natural sugar alcohol that tastes identical to sugar, but without the calories, impact on blood sugar levels or tooth decay.

Health experts are unanimous in pinpointing sugary soft drinks as a major contributor to health problems, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

We believe Australians need natural alternatives that dramatically reduce sugar consumption and avoid the harmful artificial sweeteners and ingredients like high fructose corn syrup.

With one in four Australian children overweight or obese, having a healthy alternative like Nexba Cola on major grocery store shelves, such as Coles, will empower parents to keep kids healthy and happy

To celebrate the launch of Australia’s first naturally sugar free soft drinks, we are supporting local communities that live out our ‘naturally brave’ mantra. Nexba will give back 1% of sales made between 1 August 2016 and 31 March 2017 to support Surf Life Saving in maintaining and keeping our beaches safe.

Its members live our mission to be 'naturally brave' every time they decide to put themselves at risk for another person. We want to help them continue to teach young Australians to be healthy, strong and courageous.

Nexba Cola is available in Coles stores nationwide.
